The city of Tui is a key stage of the Portuguese road to Compostela, since Tui is one of the natural entry roads to Galicia from Lusitanian lands, a road that was already traced in Roman times when via XIX was designed, of the Antonine itinerary , which connected the two capitals of the ancient Gallaeciae, Braga and Lugo. The 'Castellum Tude' was one of the stages of this Roman road, along which the medieval paths ran throughout the centuries.
