The history of this municipality is strongly influenced by its importance on the Camino de Santiago.
Its function of step marked the local history. Pedrafita do Cebreiro was part of the itinerary of the Roman roads; of the road that led through Triacastela to the interior of ancient Galicia; after the path of Santiago and Camino Real, to finally become the first modern access road from the plateau in the XNUMXth century.
Pedrafita do Cebreiro is constituted as the entrance in Galicia of the French Way.
