The Arzúa Cheese Festival, declared a Festival of Tourist Interest in Galicia, is held coinciding with the first weekend of March.
Since 1975, every first weekend of March, cheese and culture are the main protagonists in Arzúa. The festival and the town are transformed into a spiral of gastronomic, musical, cultural, artisan, technological, traditional and innovative events.
The star product is Arzúa-Ulloa cheese, which in 1989 received the category of Quality Galician Product and enjoys its own Protected Designation of Origin. It shares space in the fairgrounds with the other Galician appellations of origin, with artisan cheeses and with other cheeses from different parts of Spain and the rest of Europe.
The philosophy of the festival aims to combine gastronomy and culture, bringing cheese to children and young people with different activities. One of them is the organization of the Cheese Festival with two days of music for everyone.
