Portuguese Way along the Coast

This pilgrimage route was of great importance in the Middle Ages and was used by pilgrims from the westernmost lands of Portugal, including those from overseas countries who arrived at the Portuguese ports to reach Compostela.

From Portugal they crossed the River Miño by boat to A Pasaxe, in A Guarda, continuing through O Rosal to the Oia Monastery. From there, they continued to Baiona, Nigrán and Vigo until they reached Redondela, where this path converged with the Portuguese Way from Tui.

The Portuguese Coastal Way maintains this route, along the 147 km, that the pilgrim will have to travel to get from A Guarda to Santiago of Compostela.
